A Gift from God

It had been a difficult three years. The Lord had blessed us with a home in the country twelve years previously, but the rental property had deteriorated over the years and we needed to move to a safer environment. A new grandbaby was on the way and although we could get by with the deteriorating conditions on our own, a newborn needed more warmth and safety. So we began to pray. We searched for homes from Iowa to Mississippi and Alabama on Craig’s list and through family and friends and got nothing. Hope was flagging and we wondered why the Lord had not answered our prayers.

Instead of complaining and speaking doubt into our situation, we chose to make our new home request known to our Father by speaking affirmatively what we sought and thanking and praising Him for the answered prayer.

I told the Lord, “We want our lives to be a testament to the greatness of You so our new home is in your hands. Wherever you want us to live, Father, we will live, but we are not seeking on our own anymore. Please bring ouWrapped_Houser new home to us.” We just knew it was going to be an uphill task, for we had pets and not much money for a rental or pet deposit and needed a home with at least 3-4 bedrooms and before the winter came.

Little did I know, our answered prayer sat just a cubicle away. A coworker’s daughter had moved out of state, leaving her house in the parents’ hands. Initially, over a year ago, they fully intended to sell it and get out from under the payments. I knew about it but also knew their intentions to sell, and that we could not afford to buy a home.

Out of the blue my coworker, Sharon, came to me the other day and said they had been thinking about it and decided they did not want the home to sit empty for the winter and would consider renting it to the right person. “We’re interested,” I told her. “Sharon, you know we have pets?”

She said, “Oh that’s no problem. We know you’ll take care of the place.”

My throat tightened. “Okay, so what kind of pet or rental deposit are you wanting?”

She waved her hand and said, “We don’t need to worry about that.”

My heart sped up. “Okay, well, when could we think about looking at it and/or moving in?”

She smiled and said, “Well, they should be done painting and putting in the new carpet by the end of the month. Would that work for you?”

“Would it WORK FOR US? Woo Hoo!!!!”

Everything, every request for the home we needed, He provided with this new house.

Tears welled up in thankfulness each time I think about how much God loved us to meet not only our immediate needs, but our future needs. He touched the hearts of this couple, soon to retire, in order to provide a home for us. More importantly, He loved our new granddaughter, not yet born, so much that this home will be the very first testament of His great love for her. She will be told how gracious our God was to provide for her needs as well with this, her new home. Nothing is too much for God. We truly do serve a loving and generous God. His love for each of is so great that there isn’t anything He will not do to cement His relationship with us!

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you Lord!!!!
