An Interview with a Sweet Potato

Funny, amusing, and entertaining–you’ll find this interview ‘sweet’ with Mr. Sweet Potato. JD – Hola SP! Let’s dig right in and peel back the layers of confusion and mystery surrounding your family by taking us to your roots. SP – Well JD, taking a page from my favorite vegetable lover of all time, Popeye, “I Yam what I Yam”, but to the confusion and astonishment of many I am not a Yam! By the way, I’m not really a potato either, sweet or otherwise! SP – Let’s go to the family album first JD, so we can clear up the confusion that has been created over the years between the real sweet potato family and my distant cousins, the yam and the common potato. Our flesh is usually a bright orange, but we also have members of the fam sporting purple, yellow and white flesh. Typically, our lean bods are long and tapered, with a smooth skin whose color ranges between red, purple, brown, and white. JD – Now that I can pick you out of a crowd SP, how about the skinny on your history and current world status?
